Ideas in health, with the seal of the ' spin-off’ Topping, start your health projects 2.0

A 30% Spanish patients look up information about diseases on the Internet and, Although there is much noise information, “with a little common sense can be found in the network reliable and rigorous information that helps us to improve our quality of life”, explains Armando Ruiz, Director-general of Topping, a spin - of(f) located on the Parc de Recerca UAB (PRUAB) specialized in the development of clinical research projects, scientific dissemination and communication in health for companies and institutions.

These routines, derived from the proliferation of new technologies, they have resulted in the birth of medicine 2.0 and the so-called e-pacientes, players who create a new way of understanding medicine, making participatory and translational, where both doctors and patients have much to say.

The project Ideas in health, developed by Topping and financed by the Spanish Foundation for science and technology (FECYT), has been created with the aim to seek new forms of collaboration among physicians, researchers and e-pacientes to move forward in the knowledge and the implementation of the results of research related to asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative, rare and skin. The dissemination of this information society is via the web (with news, interviews, videos, among others). It is a medical website accredited by the Col·legi Oficial de Metges de Barcelona (COMB).

Part of this informative line, Ideas on health promotes the development of their own collaborative research projects. Currently, According to Armando Ruiz, they are working on a project related to COPD and another with allergies and food intolerances. These projects are carried out together with the Spanish Association of patients and relatives of COPD (ASOCEPOC) and the Spanish Association of allergic to Latex and foods (AEPNAA).
